Classes
Beginners Class
MWF 8:30 - 11:30 TTH 8:30 - 11:30 TWTH 12:15 - 3:15
The Beginners Program for three-year-olds helps children to make the
transition from home and the comfort of a parent's care into a group
situation and the care of other adults. The skills needed to live and
relate to other children and adults are emphasized as are the self-help
skills needed as a child makes the gradual move toward independence. We
strive to provide a rich environment with many and varied experiences
to stimulate cognitive development in ways that are appropriate for
children this age.
Pre-Kindergarten
MWF 8:30 - 11:30 M-F 8:30 - 11:30 TWTH 12:15 - 3:15
The program for four-year-olds continues to promote the development and
maturation of children as they function in group situations and develop
their ability to interact with other children and adults. Children
receive personal attention designed to encourage their growth as unique
human beings. We especially seek to develop children's self esteem and
spirit of inquiry. We want children to know that they are respected and
taken seriously for what they think, feel, and have to say. In helping
children explore their environment and develop their language skills,
we seek to enhance their ability to functional optimally on our
increasingly complex world.
Kindergarten
M-F 8:30 - 11:45
Our Kindergarten program provides a rich environment for children as
they continue to develop socially and academically. Through a thematic
approach we explore different cultures, nature and science. Math and
reading concepts are approached in a practical, hands-on manner.
Children are given responsibilities in the functioning of the
classroom, and they are given the opportunity to make choices as they
approach their daily routine. The curriculum is modified to meet
children's needs so they can be successful and find learning a
rewarding, natural experience.
First Grade
M-F 8:30 - 2:30
The first grade program continues the developmental classroom
techniques begun in kindergarten. The year is divided into themes
relating to math, science, famous people, history, and holidays.
Essential skills are taught with an integrated curriculum (whole
language) approach. Activities are built around good literature and
children are allowed to progress as far as they desire. Emphasis is
placed on the individuality of each child, and throughout the year
children are given many opportunities to demonstrate and share their
accomplishments. First graders share responsibility for their learning
and the teacher becomes a facilitator for student learning.
Lunch Bunch
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday
Lunch Bunch is our afternoon program that gives children the opportunity to spend a little more time at school. Children from our Beginners, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes come together for lunch and an afternoon of play. Children bring their lunch and a drink to school on days they are attending Lunch Bunch. Lunch Bunch is available for children to attend up to five days a week. Children may stay until 2:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday ends at 1:15 pm for those who like the short days.
